We made plans with Wayne and Barbara to have dinner with his parent's in the evening. Wayne's father taught college mathematics and his mother was a nurse. Barbara and Wayne needed to continue to move her things into the house for cohabitation the following weekend. Wayne had ordered some blinds from Blindster.com and was going to install these into the downstairs office that was going to be shared by the two of them soon. Barbara does case reviews and works from home. She has abandoned her stressful life as an ER nurse.
Earline and I wanted to check out Chapel Hill and the surrounding areas so we left at about 11 am. Chapel Hill, is a typical college town. We parked near the sundial in the downtown that was the center of protest activity. A Confederate statue that was erected in 1913 was recently pulled down by a bunch of students in protest to it racist meaning to them. In response, there have been weekly protests by two factions of students, those carrying Confederate flags and those calling them fascists. The police have a heavy presence to around this area to try to prevent violence. All I saw was obnoxious shouting at each other. Apparently, the students don't like to study very much.
Earline walked down the main street and stopped at "The Pizza Press", a restaurant with outdoor seating that was dog-friendly. The pizza was surprisingly good and the dark beers were excellent. With not much else to see, we returned to our car, past the still shouting students, and departed the town. We drove to Apex, NC another town in the research triangle area that is rapidly growing. Unfortunately, there was some type of town event happening and the streets were blocked and there was little parking so we continued our journey back to Wake Forest.
We had dinner with Wayne's parents at a dog-friendly restaurant called Shattuck's and this was quite nice until rain began just at the end of the meal. Wayne's father graciously treated us to dinner and after returning to Wayne's house, they stayed for a brief time until the sandman beckoned to them.
We chatted until about 10 pm and went to bed because we planned to depart at 8 am in the morning to Cave Spring, GA where Earline's brother lives.
