4/24/19 Day #2
We got an early start this morning as La Quinta serves breakfast at 6 am. Most other motels start breakfast at 6:30 am. The La Quinta in Kingman is a pretty nice motel and their breakfast was quite good. We got on the road by 7 am after checking out and traversed Arizona without difficulty. I-40 speed is 75 mph so I traveled at about 80 mph and made great time. We only hit one traffic jam due to road construction before entering New Mexico.
We did make a quick stop in Winslow, Arizona to see the famous corner described in the Eagles song, "Take It Easy."

There was not much to see along the route except a lot of Native Indian casinos and trading posts. We did have time for a quick picture at the Continental Divide sign on Route 66. We have crossed this divide multiple times in the past and even took a long RV trip down Route 89 from Glacier National Park to the Grand Canyon. This followed the divide for a long distance. Should you care about this, you can review the trip at this blog link.

We then had time to briefly stop in Alburqueque for a quick sandwich and beer before pushing onward to Santa Rosa, NM. I had made reservations at the EconoLodge for the evening because their fee for each pet was only $10. Other motels in the area were much more expensive for our two furry buddies.
Tomorrow, we push forward to Oklahoma City or perhaps a bit further east?
